University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) is the largest university teaching hospital in the West Midlands, and has the widest clinical portfolio of any acute healthcare provider in the Region. The Trust currently undertakes 97,000 day case and inpatient stays and holds in excess of 350 000 outpatient consultations per annum. It has an annual income of over GBP 424 500 000 and employs more than 6 200 staff. In preparing for the relocation of its services to the new acute hospital, the Trust is seeking to appoint a specialist removal company to work in partnership with it during the period prior to and during the phased relocation. This contract will include the relocation of the majority of services currently based at the Selly Oak Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital sites into the new building on the Queen Elizabeth site. There will be a significant amount of existing furniture and equipment to transfer and full details will be included in the specification. The new hospital will include the following facilities: — 1233 beds (including 125 critical care & 100 ambulatory care), — 40 imaging rooms, — 30 operating theatres, — Space for up to 500 000 outpatient attendances each year, — A 45 Stationed Haemodialysis Unit. The transfer will commence in the late Spring/early Summer of 2010 and is likely to be delivered in two or three main phases until mid to late 2011. The final configuration of the handover of the new hospital by the construction partner is still being negotiated and therefore the appointed removal company will be required to work with the Trust to plan the final delivery of the physical transfers. Centro is seeking to appoint a suitable contractor for the provision of Security Services at its head office, Centro House, 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 3SD, under the direction of the Working Environment Officer.It is proposed to let the contract for a 3 year period commencing 1.3.2009 until 28.2.2012, subject to satifactory performance with the option to extend for a further 12 months, at Centro's discretion.
